Goa coronavirus update: Covid-19 positivity drops to 20% in one month


The COVID-19 positivity rate in
Goa has now come down to 19 per cent as against 51 per cent a month back, according to the state government.
However, the Goa government has not let its guard down and is making all efforts to curb the spread of the virus by emphasising on vaccination, Dr Shivanand Bandekar, head of the state s expert committee on COVID-19, told PTI on Monday.
He also said that till last week, the coastal state reported a total of 12 cases of mucormycosis, and since then there has been no fresh case of the black fungus infection.
As per the data of Goa health department, the state reported 20 per cent COVID-19 positivity rate on Monday as compared to 51 per cent on April 30. ....

Panaji, May 24 : The count of patients with black fungus in Goa s apex hospital has now reached ten, dean of the Goa Medical College Dr. Shivanand Bandekar said on Monday.
The top official said that all patients suffering from black fungus were administered steroid dosages during Covid treatment, adding that one of the patients died last week due to a high CT score.
Today, I was informed that we have now got 10 cases out of which 6 have received treatment. One had succumbed because of high score of covid. the other three are being started including surgical treatment, Bandekar said. ....

Panaji, May 17 : The Congress on Monday filed a police complaint against Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Health Minister Viswajit Rane, claiming that their sheer incompetence, mismanagement and criminal negligence led to the deaths of hundreds of Covid patients due to oxygen shortage .
This complaint reflects the pain and the anguish of all Goans, who have been completely failed and let down by the present state government on account of their sheer incompetence; criminal negligence; mismanagement and complete disregard to the lives of the peoples in handling the Covid-19 pandemic situation, the complaint filed by state Congress chief Girish Chodankar at the Agacaim police station said. ....
