A federal pledge to crack down on corruption is struggling to gain support from police and legal experts who believe the draft plan is too weak to catch politicians and public servants who break the law.

Another report was about an off-duty sergeant who assaulted a person while drunk at a function. The officer then abused police who arrived on scene but no charges were ever laid.

Human rights activists have pushed for a new online surveillance bill to be culled, saying it s a draconian and extreme infringement on people s right to privacy.
Bill Rowlings, CEO of rights group Civil Liberties Australia, has called for the proposed Surveillance Legislation Amendment Identify and Disrupt Bill 2020 to be abandoned.
