Two travellers flying into Pearson International Airport in Mississauga fined for allegedly providing altered COVID-19 documents


Transport Canada has fined two travellers for allegedly providing false or misleading COVID-19 pre-departure tests.
The first passenger, who was traveling from the Dominican Republic to Toronto Pearson International Airport on February 8, 2021, was fined $6,500 for allegedly providing an altered COVID-19 test, as well as making a false declaration to the air carrier about their health status.
The second passenger, who was traveling from the U.S. to Pearson on April 3, 2021, was fined $2,500 for allegedly presenting an altered COVID-19 test before boarding their flight.
Under the Interim Order Respecting Certain Requirements for Civil Aviation Due to COVID-19, air travellers are prohibited from knowingly providing false or misleading COVID-19 test documentation, and they must obtain a negative result on a COVID-19 molecular test within 72 hours of boarding a flight destined for Canada. ....

The post-arrival COVID-19 molecular test requirement
According to Subsection 1.4(1), every person who is five years of age or older and who enters Canada must:
Undergo a COVID-19 molecular test in accordance with the instructions of a quarantine officer or the Minister of Health:
On entering Canada, and
After entering Canada; and
Retain evidence of the COVID-19 molecular test result for 14 days, beginning on the day that they obtain the evidence of that result (the period begins again if the person develops signs and symptoms of COVID-19, receives evidence of a positive result under any type of COVID-19 test, or is exposed to another person who exhibits signs and symptoms of COVID-19). ....
