Police officers in Western New York are to thank for the rescue of a dog that was spotted stuck in a creek.
Officers from the Cheektowaga Police Department responded to the call on the afternoon of December 30 and quickly got to work finding a route down to where the dog was in the creek. Since the creek has a steep bank and is in a heavily-wooded area, officers had to check various spots for a good entrance point, but finally Patrolman Rutkowski was able to make his way toward the dog, who was clinging to a tree in the creek. ....

Police officers said they rescued a dog found
CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. - Police officers said they rescued a dog found clinging to a tree and stuck in a creek in Cheektowaga, New York, on Wednesday, December 30.
The Cheektowaga Police Department said Patrolman James Rutkowski navigated through a wooded area and entered waist-deep water to help rescue the stranded pup on Wednesday afternoon.
Patrolman Troy Blackchief and Cheektowaga Animal Control also helped get the dog out of the water and to safety, police said.
Police said the dog was reunited with its owners and brought to the vet. ....

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WKBW) â Cheektowaga Police officers waded into a freezing creek to rescue a dog that was clinging to a tree in the middle of the water.
Police were called to an area off Genesee Street around 3:20 Wednesday afternoon, after someone spotted a dog in a creek. Just before that, the dog s owners were trying to get the dog into the vet s office, when it got loose.
An employee with the vet s office told police the dog was last seen in the creek, so they started checking the area around it. Patrolman James Rutkowski was checking an area behind Rein Road when he heard the dog, then spotted the dog clinging to the tree in the creek. ....
