A natural area in Clinton County adjacent to Caesar Creek State Park will become a nature preserve if Cardinal Land Conservancy Inc. is awarded a state grant.

WILMINGTON If a regional land trust succeeds in its application for a state grant, there will be a new nature preserve in Clinton County.
Clinton County commissioners gave their official show of support for the project this week, passing a formal resolution that authorizes participation in the 2021 Clean Ohio Conservation Fund program. The Chester Township location in question covers 94 acres that are adjacent to Caesar Creek State Park. ....

Wildlife Investigator Kevin Behr of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources is continuing to recover after he was shot Dec. 20, 2020, while investigating illegal deer hunting in Clinton County.
Nearly 50 marked cruisers and more than 100 people turned out Tuesday night to light up the night in support of an Ohio wildlife investigator shot in December while investigating illegal deer hunting.
Kevin Behr, a 25-year-veteran of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife, has had at least seven surgeries since he was shot Dec. 20 in Clinton County. Although he is still hospitalized at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, “he is making progress,” according to a Jan. 14 update posted on the Strong as Behr fundraising page organized by Ohio Wildlife Lodge 143. ....

A 43-year-old Greene County man is facing a felony assault charge in connection to the shooting of an Ohio Division of Natural Resources wildlife officer who was investigating a deer poaching complaint.
Three men were in a pickup truck Sunday apparently looking for deer when they stopped after spotting a buck in the woods off Macedonia Road in Martinsville in Clinton County.
Brian R. Liming, of Caesarcreek Twp. southeast of Xenia, was in the woods hunting when he said he fired a shot at the buck, according to an affidavit filed Tuesday in Clinton County Municipal Court by Sgt. Doug Eastes, a detective with the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office. ....
