2 victims hospitalized, suspect shot in hostage situation in Yuba City

An investigation is underway after a Yuba City police officer opened fire on a suspect in an apparent hostage situation Wednesday night that sent two victims to the hospital. The incident unfolded around 7:45 p.m. on Wildflower Court when police responded to a domestic violence call from neighbors.Someone claiming to be a victim also called, saying they had been struck in the head by the suspect. The caller also said there was a woman being held hostage inside who had suffered a significant neck injury, according to a release from the Yuba City Police Department.Officers responded to the home and found the caller, who was bleeding.The suspect then came out of a bedroom holding a weapon against the other victim s head. YUBA CITY, Calif. - A multi-county team is investigating after an officer shot a gunman during a tense hostage situation.
Yuba City police say it started Wednesday night around 7:45 when neighbors reported what sounded like domestic violence and a woman being attacked at a home on the 1600 block of Wildflower Circle. Then officers received a call from a victim inside the house, who said he was struck in the head. This victim said there was another injured victim inside the house who had was being held hostage. ....

Convicted of second-degree murder and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, Timothy Neil Clark, 51, of Cool, was sentenced to life in prison Monday by El Dorado County Superior Court Judge Daniel Proud.

He took the lives of Roseville husband-and-wife Daniel Sanford, 93, and Shirley Mae Sanford, 85, April 1, 2020, when driving his Dodge Durango with a blood alcohol level of .24% at speeds nearing 70 mph he crossed over the double-yellow lines of Highway 49 just north of Coloma and hit the vehicle the Sanfords were traveling in head-on.
Clark was also found to have committed felony insurance fraud, collecting unemployment insurance from the Employment Development Department while he was held at the El Dorado County Jail on DUI murder charges. ....
