Cuth's JCR condemned after "outdated and malicious" Facebook comment – Palatinate

St Cuthbert’s Society JCR has received condemnation after a comment was posted from its official Facebook account that has been described as “Sinophobic” and  “outdated and malicious”.
The comment was posted under a Facebook status about the cancellation of St Cuthbert’s Society summer ball. Responding to a question of why it had been cancelled, the JCR account claimed that it was “because somebody in Wuhan ate a bat in late 2019”.

Police officer admits to kidnapping and raping Durham alumna Sarah Everard

In a court hearing yesterday, Metropolitan Police officer Wayne Couzens pleaded guilty to charges of kidnap and rape against Durham University alumna Sarah Everard. He was arrested as a primary suspect following the discovery of her body in Kent in March 2021.

Ms. Everard was walking home from a friend’s house in Clapham the night she disappeared on 3rd March 2021. She was reported as missing by her boyfriend the following day, leading to searches in the area. The 33 year-old’s body was found a week later in woodland near Ashford in Kent. ....
