House set to vote on federal highway bill with $210M for Mich. projects

Majority Leader Steny Hoyer announced the schedule update Thursday afternoon, saying lawmakers will vote on the $547 billion INVEST in America Act package the week of June 28.
The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee advanced the $547 billion package by a 38-26 vote early Thursday after a markup that lasted about 19 hours. The bill, which only two Republicans supported, authorizes spending on roads, bridges, rail and public transit infrastructure projects.
During the markup, lawmakers voted down an amendment to strike from the bill the proposed Clean Corridors program, which would strategically place EV charging and hydrogen fueling infrastructure along major national highways and the freight network in an effort to combat range anxiety. ....

City of Philadelphia: Cleaning Ambassadors Employed Through The PHL TCB Clean Corridors Program Attain Workplace Safety Certification

In the fall of 2020, the City of Philadelphia kicked off the
Philadelphia Taking Care of Business (PHL TCB) Clean Corridors Program, a $7 million economic development initiative that expands the Department of Commerce s existing commercial corridor cleaning efforts from 49 commercial corridors to 85 throughout the city.

The PHL TCB Clean Corridors Program funds community-based nonprofits to sweep sidewalks and remove litter within neighborhood commercial corridors, which helps promote the economic success of neighborhood businesses by creating an inviting environment for shoppers while creating work opportunities for Philadelphians. The PHL TCB initiative was made possible through funding allocated by City Council in 2019. ....
