Things have now come full circle - they ve just released a covers album of their favourite songs. Their 10th studio album, Delta Kream, features eleven Mississippi hill country blues standards including songs by R. L. Burnside and Junior Kimbrough, among others. Delta Kream was recorded at Auerbach s Easy Eye Sound studio in Nashville, where they were joined by musicians Kenny Brown and Eric Deaton, who are long-time members of the bands of blues legends including R. L. Burnside and Junior Kimbrough. ....

The record produced by Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach stayed in limbo throughout 2020, but on Wednesday, the band unveiled new single “Midnight Wine” ahead of a planned August 20th release date for the new album. “I remember texting with Dan about the record shortly after [the pandemic shut the music industry down] and saying, ‘I have no idea when we could possibly release this. I think I just need to take a break from it and kind of forget we even recorded it so I stop being upset that we have to sit on it, ” guitarist Cody Blanchard tells ....
I was blown away, Auerbach told The Tennessean. There s so much variation. It wasn t just one thing. That s obvious because it s Tony Joe. But when you re faced with this whole little bundle of brand new songs and they all fit together like some strange puzzle, even though they re not the same genre, I just love that so much. [It s] stuff that makes you feel good. I connected to that. Tony Joe White recorded the backbone of Smoke From The Chimney roughly three to five years before death, per his son. But the songs time-travel through decades and genres impacted by the singer. ....
