Susan Haynie was arrested in 2018 and faced several charges connected to failing to disclose income that she and her husband made while she was in office. They included payments from a developer who conducted business with the city to which Haynie was serving her second term as mayor. As part of a plea deal entered on Thursday, she was convicted of two misdemeanors while the other charges, including official misconduct, were dropped. Former Boca Raton Mayor Susan Haynie had been facing a total of seven criminal charges altogether punishable by up to 23 years in prison. But the plea deal is for 12 months of probation for two misdemeanors: misuse of public office, and failure to disclose a voting conflict. Prosecutors dropped all three felony counts against her. ....
