'Expect speedy probe in advocate murder case' | Ranchi News

RANCHI: Senior superintendent of police Surendra Kumar Jha assured the Jharkhand high court here on Wednesday of arresting the assailants of advocate Manoj Jha soon. The lawyer was shot dead in Tamar on July 26.
Jha was appearing before a division bench of chief justice Dr Ravi Ranjan and justice Sujit Narayan Prasad while hearing a petition filed by the Advocates Association, Jharkhand high court. The court expressed its dismay over the incident of Jha being shot in the open by miscreants.
The bench while directing the SSP to expedite the investigation also said that the death of an advocate in broad daylight was very serious. The culprits should be immediately arrested, the judges said. The SSP, Ranchi informed the court that investigation has already commenced and the killers will be nabbed soon. ....

Hemant Soren receives another threat email

In the fourth such instance after becoming the Jharkhand chief minister, Hemant Soren has received an anonymous email threatening him. Police sources said the sender has been identified.
The email was sent to the official address of the secretary to the chief minister (secretarytocmjharkhand@gmail.com) on May 25 at 3.19pm. The email written in English hurls expletives at Soren and warns: “I will bear your death ceremony cost from my personal pocket. Third class…. Die as soon as possible.”

A case was lodged by the chief minister’s office at Gonda police station in Ranchi on the same day. Gonda police sub-inspector Dipak Kumar investigated the case and submitted his probe report on June 1. ....

Hemant urges restraint as J'khand shuts down for a week | Ranchi News

Ranchi: Commercial establishments downed their shutters and traffic on the city streets thinned from morning as Jharkhand went into a week-long ‘Swasthya Suraksha Saptah’ from Thursday to slow down the transmission of Covid-19 virus.
Chief minister Hemant Soren, in a video message, asked the people to exercise restraint and abide by the directives, which will be in place till April 29. “This was the only way to slow down the infectivity in the state. I am sure that the transmission of the virus will slow down,” he said.
Unlike March last year, when nationwide lockdown was imposed, there was no panic buying in grocery stores and other commercial establishments on Thursday. ....
