Pitt was not told that Kaban project he vetoed would include big battery

Federal resources minister Keith Pitt was not advised that the Kaban Energy Hub project would feature both a wind farm and big battery before he vetoed a $270 million government loan on the basis that it was not dispatchable, department officials told a Senate Estimates hearing on Friday.
Project developer Neoen approached the Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility (NAIF) to seek a $280 million loan for the Kaban Energy Hub project that will combine both a 157MW wind farm with a 100MW big battery. The project, to be built in Northern regional Queensland, is expected to support the creation of around 250 jobs during its construction phase. ....

Victoria to fast-track vaccinations for aged care and disability workers amid concerns over 'fleeting' transmission

Victoria has recorded nine new community-transmitted COVID-19 cases, including six previously reported, from more than 42,000 tests as outrage continues after it was revealed the virus had once again entered the state s aged care system.
The new cases, announced on Tuesday, take the total number of infections linked to the outbreak to 54. Two of the new infections are close contacts of previously confirmed cases, while the third remains under investigation.
Health authorities are facing an uphill battle to contain the virus, with more than 4,200 close contacts of positive cases and almost 330 potential exposure sites identified.

The Coalition has shown it can provide 'unprecedented economic support' during a crisis

When the coronavirus crisis was at its peak, the Coalition demonstrated it is able to provide an unprecedented amount of economic support, says Treasurer Josh Frydenberg.

At Senate Estimates on Tuesday, the Treasury Secretary confirmed 150,000 Australians have come off unemployment benefits since JobKeeper ended.

“The budget delivered just over two weeks ago saw continued economic support,” Mr Frydenberg said during Question Time.

“On this side of the House, we have shown that when this crisis was at its peak, we provided an unprecedented amount of economic support.

“And that has seen the jobs come back not only in Victoria, but right across the country.”
