OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) -Senator Keith Perry and Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis held a press conference to recognize March 10th as the first annual First Responders Mental Health Awareness Day across Florida at the Florida State Fire College.
Perry has been working on passing Senate Resolution 618 for a while and hopes this bill will make first responders like fire fighters, emts and law enforcement feel more comfortable asking for help. ....

It was approved by the house on a 101-15 vote with every member from North Central Florida in support.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - People will be allowed to rent out their vehicles to strangers using online apps in a bill approved in the State House Wednesday.
The bill is sponsored by Senator Keith Perry of Gainesville, the bill also requires sales tax and surcharges to be collected on peer to peer rentals. The bill specifies what kind of auto insurance will be required as well.
It was approved by the house on a 101-15 vote with every member from North Central Florida in support. ....

SB-750, SB-1274, SB-1876 and SB-1146.
SB-750 on impact fees will make it virtually impossible for local governments to require that new development pays its own way, meaning that existing residents will shoulder even more of the costs associated with new development through raised taxes, declining services, or both.  ....

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. Lawmakers and law enforcement across the country are on alert, preparing for potential armed protests.
It comes after the FBI sent a memo to law enforcement across the country warning of potential armed protests at all 50 state capitol buildings from Jan. 16 through Inauguration Day. 
The FBI also said it has received information about a group calling for the storming of state, local and federal government courthouses and administrative buildings if President Donald Trump is removed from office before his term is up. ....
