Cheyenne Mayor: No Excuses for Pothole Problem
Cheyenne Mayor Patrick Collins says there are no excuses for the city s pothole problem, the city simply hasn t been doing the basic maintenance required to keep its 350 miles of roads in good shape.
Our Street and Alley crews are working so hard to patch the potholes, but they do not control the required maintenance of crack filling, sealing the roads, and milling and overlays, Collins said Friday in his Mayor s Minute column.
Currently, $4.5 million in 5th penny money goes to roads each year, but Collins says it s not enough to stabilize them.

PSC may still pay a price for not billing customers for Colstrip costs

Montana’s utility regulator might still pay a price for not allowing NorthWestern Energy to bill customers for $6 million stemming from a months-long summer malfunction at Colstrip Power Plant.
Tuesday, Republicans voted to take $75,000 from the budget of the Montana Public Service Commission to pay for a study about how the PSC’s decision last fall affected NorthWestern Energy’s bond rating — and whether customers could face costs when the utility’s bond rating suffers. The amendment was offered to House Bill 2, the state’s general spending bill, during a meeting of the Senate Free Conference Committee.
The budget cut is equal to the annual salary of PSC rate analysts, who have been blasted by lawmakers for raising concerns about how customer bills might increase under legislation favoring Colstrip and the state’s largest monopoly utility. Another PSC staff position was eliminated by lawmakers a couple of weeks ....

Governor Gordon’s Missing & Murdered Indigenous Persons (“M&MIP”) Task Force will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, February 17th, to review the findings of Wyoming’s first Murder and Missing Indigineous Persons Statewide Report and to discuss the ongoing documentary project. The meeting will be recorded and available on the Division’s website: http://ag.wyo.gov/victim-services-home-page.
“I want to congratulate the Task Force for reaching a critical milestone this year, in publishing the first Murdered and Missing Indigenous Persons Statewide Report. I also want to thank Senator Ellis and Representative Clifford specifically for their support of this report throughout the process, and for ensuring legislative involvement,” Governor Gordon said. “This report captures state-specific data on crimes against Native Americans in Wyoming, many of which tragically remain unsolved.” ....
