The Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology has been informed that the federal government is finalising the national broadband policy, 5G will be auctioned by 2023 and small IT companies will be listed on the stock market.
“IT exports have crossed $2 billion for the first time and next year s target is $3.5 billion,” a meeting of the standing committee held under the chairmanship of Senator Kauda Babar at the Parliament House was informed on Thursday.

PPP, PML-N express concerns over AJK election results

ISLAMABAD: The main opposition parties, PML-N and PPP, Sunday expressed serious reservations over the election results in Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) and accused the PTI-led government of systematic rigging in the election for the Legislative Assembly.
Two people were killed due to clashes between political activists and several others were injured.
However, AJK Chief Election Commissioner Justice Abdul Rasheed Sulheria told the media during a polling station visit that polling remained peaceful at 99 percent polling stations, as he had been receiving reports. Some minor incidents of violence and stoppage of polling were reported to him at a few polling stations and he was taking cognizance of them and due process of law would be applied to ensure transparency of polling, he promised. ....

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party on Friday accused the government of stealing the elections in Azad Kashmir and said it will not allow the government to rob the mandate of the people of Azad Kashmir. “We will not allow hijacking Kashmir elections like the 2018 elections. ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party on Friday accused the government of stealing the elections in Azad Kashmir and said it will not allow the government to rob the mandate of the people of Azad Kashmir.

Palwasha Khan said that in 22 years, the PTI did not field even 22 candidates in Kashmir. “The prime minister had announced protest on Friday but where the protests are taking place,” she asked. She said the PPP will neither allow rolling back the nuclear programme nor will it allow any kind of deal on Kashmir. ....

PESHAWAR: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Senator Rubina Khalid has said the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government had stolen the 2018 general election and was planning again to steal the mandate of the people in the election in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement on Thursday, she said the PPP would not allow the rulers to do so in the coming election.
She believed rulers had been selected and misused the government machinery and funds to get the results of their choice and had assigned duties to their members of national assembly and Senate. Senator Rubina Khalid asked the Election Commission of Pakistan to take notice of the alleged planning of the “select” government to rig the elections as the rigged elections would have no legitimacy. ....
