Other exposures at Island schools in the same time frame include those at Ladysmith Secondary, Courtenay’s Glacier View Secondary, Aspengrove School in Lantzville, Chemainus Secondary and Timberline Secondary in Campbell River. The most recent exposure in the capital region was Feb. 8-11 and Feb. 17 at Glanford Middle School.
Locations on the public-exposure list for schools compiled by Island Health are removed from the list 14 days from the last exposure date.

COVID-19 reported at three Nanaimo schools

The reports comes on the heels of an exposure at View Royal Elementary on Jan. 27. Recent exposures were also reported at Chemainus Secondary, Cowichan Secondary and Crofton Elementary, while Ecole Macaulay Elementary had a case reported last week.
An exposure means that a single person with a lab-confirmed case of COVID-19 was at a particular location while infectious.
Students should continue to attend school unless public-health officials advise differently.
Island Health joins with school districts to notify any close contacts.
There are currently 12 schools with a COVID-19 exposure listed by Island Health. Schools remain on the list until 14 days after the last date of exposure. ....

3 Vancouver Island schools added to COVID-19 exposure list

VICTORIA
Three more schools on Vancouver Island have been added to Island Health’s COVID-19 exposure list.
The potential exposures occurred at Crofton Elementary School, Chemainus Secondary School and Bayview Elementary School.
At Crofton Elementary, located at 8017 York Ave., Island Health says possible exposures took place on Jan. 25 and Jan. 27.
Meanwhile, at Chemainus Secondary, exposures may have taken place on Jan. 25, 26, 27 and 28.
In Nanaimo, possible COVID-19 exposures took place on Jan. 27 and Jan. 29 at Bayview Elementary School.
Each school exposure is so far limited to a single person, according to Island Health.
Whenever a school has a potential COVID-19 exposure, Island Health reaches out to close contacts of the individual. If your family is not contacted by public health workers, you can continue attending school as usual. ....

Another school in the Cowichan Valley School District is dealing with a COVID-19 exposure.
On its Facebook page, Lake Cowichan Secondary School has posted the letter parents of students, as well as the staff, received from Island Health advising them of the exposure dates: January 20, 21, 23, and 25, 2021.
Island Health reports contact tracing has been done to determine who needs to self-isolate for 14 days.
Unless told otherwise, parents are still expected to send their children to school.
There have been four other schools that recently reported exposures in School District 79 during the month of January, they are Alexander Elementary, Cowichan Secondary School, Quimichan Middle School, and Chemainus Secondary School. ....
