Panama- 8 children's shelters closed amidst growing outrage

(MENAFN - Newsroom Panama) The board of directors of the National Secretariat for Children, Adolescents and the Family ( Senniaf ) - which has been declared in permanent session - asked Senniaf to immediately close the shelters nationwide that, have incurred very serious offenses in accordance with the provisions of current regulations.
Consequently, it is necessary to proceed with the transfer of the children and adolescents who are located in said facilities. This was raised by the board of directors at the third meeting held to deal with complaints about irregularities in shelters in the country.
The directors also urged the National Supervision and Monitoring Committee to supervise the shelters at the national level urgently, based on the principle of the best interests of the child and adolescents, through the technical teams of the different institutions that comprise it. In the face of prevailing COVID – 19 pandemic the Government has taken every possible measure to provide all required facilities notwithstanding the health related restrictions imposed to ensure safety of the public. Delft, Analativu and Nainativu Islands to China, no change in decision

Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila has stated that there is no change in the decision taken to hand over three northern islands belonging to Sri Lanka to three Chinese companies for a joint energy project to be implemented with China.
He was responding to a question raised by a journalist at a media briefing at the Government Information Department today. (Video of the Ministers response in English at the end of the Article)
The Cabinet had approved the allocation of Delft, Analativu and Nainativu Islands for the project on January 18.

Lesotho- Nacosec to roll out mass testing

MASERU -THE National Covid-19 Secretariat (Nacosec) says it is rolling out mass-testing to target super-spreader events and hot spots.
This was said by Nacosec s chief of staff, Thabo Ntoi, during a virtual press conference this week.
Our surveillance teams worked it out targeting super spreaders to reduce the rate of infections, Ntoi said, adding that they want to do more antigen rapid tests.
He said they have also strengthened the coordination among District Covid-19 Secretariats (Dicosec) to improve operations at the national level.

Lesotho- Nacosec offices temporarily shut down

MASERU -THE National Covid-19 Secretariat (Nacosec) s offices at Avani Maseru Hotel were temporarily shut down on Monday after it failed to clear rental arrears running from July last year.
The Nacosec was established in June last year to spearhead the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
It has however failed to pay rent since it occupied its offices at the hotel.
The Nacosec Chief of Staff, Thabo Ntoi, told a press conference on Tuesday that approvals and procedures took a long time and this led to our office closure .
Nacosec and the Maseru Avani management were locked in long talks on the issue on Monday. They later agreed to reopen the offices on Tuesday. ....
