US Space Force extends Raytheon contract for OCX GPS capabilities
The US Space Force has awarded an OCX 3F contract to Raytheon Intelligence and Space to build up its GPS capabilities.
Specifically, the Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC) has awarded a $228 million contract for the GPS next-generation Operational Control System (OCX) Follow-On (OCX 3F). It extends an initial contract with the aerospace and defence specialist to upgrade ground system hardware.
This is part of a GPS Enterprise Modernization effort, for the satellite-based radio navigation system to provide more accurate positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) for military and civil users worldwide. ....

GPS Next-Generation Operational Control System (OCX) Follow-On (OCX 3F).
The OCX 3F program is further future iteration of the GPS Enterprise Modernization effort. OCX comes in four blocks: 0, 1, 2 and now 3F. Only Block 0 is currently operative, though it does not “fly” the constellation, it only handles Launch and Early Orbit (LEO) operations and the on-orbit checkout of all GPS III satellites. I has done so for four GPS III satellites so far. A fifth launch is due in June.

Currently, all GPS satellites are controlled by the Operational Control System (OCS), which Lockheed Martin sustains until 2025, when OCX will start taking over. OCS now flies the more powerful GPS IIIs as well as older satellites and tasks, uploads and monitors the encrypted M-Code signals. ....

WASHINGTON The U.S. Space Force awarded Raytheon Intelligence & Space a $228 million contract for the follow-on control system for the GPS satellite constellation.
The contract awarded April 30 extends Raytheon’s work on a new ground system for the GPS constellation known as the Next Generation Operational Control System (OCX). The company already delivered Block 0 and is working on Blocks 1 and 2. This contract expands the company’s work to Block 3F, which will incorporate regional military protection and command and control for the future GPS III follow-on satellites. ....
