Variety brings Easter cheer for kids at Harrison’s Point Article by April 7, 2021 Children in insolation for COVID-19 were treated to kite-flying over the Easter weekend, through Variety – The Children’s Charity. A donation of 14 kites was made to Infectious Disease Specialist Dr. Corey Forde last Thursday for the children in tertiary care at Harrison’s Point. Dr. Forde expressed his gratitude for the kites presented, which he said would provide an absolute thrill for the children. “Easter is certainly a period of giving and sharing and during this difficult period of COVID, Variety has stepped in to help us at Harrison’s Point as we create a period of activities for all the residents at the facilities. They have donated a variety of beautiful kites and on presentation of these kites I am absolutely sure that the children are going to be thrilled by this,” Dr. Forde said last week. ....

Cayman Compass The CARIFTA Swimming Championships has become a victim of COVID-19 yet again, following an announcement that the 26 March- 7 April sporting event to be held in Barbados has been postponed indefinitely. This marks the second postponement of the event after the decision was made last March to delay the massive swimming competition by a year as a precaution. With the host country currently in a two-week lockdown after recording over 1,000 new COVID cases since the beginning of the year, Barbados Amateur Swimming Association president Cheryl Lady Forde issued a statement on Wednesday, 27 Jan.to put the championships on hold until further notice. ....
Social Share The 2021 CARIFTA Aquatic Championships have been postponed again due to the COVID-19 pandemic. President of the Barbados Aquatic Sports Association (BASA) Cheryl Lady Forde said the event, originally slated for March 26 to April 7, will no longer take place over the Easter weekend. Lady Forde announced that a new date will be set after a meeting with the COVID-19 Monitoring Unit next month. The development comes just days after Barbados recorded its 11th death because of the novel coronavirus and less than 72 hours following Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley’s announcement of a 15-day national lockdown from February 3 to 17.
