A former Cambridge University student who used to live in Chadderton was found with a document on how to prepare explosive devices and has been jailed.
Oliver Bel (aged 24), more recently of Cherry Tree Close in Wilmslow, was jailed on Friday at Manchester Crown Court for two years after being found guilty of possession of documents or records likely to be useful to a person preparing, or committing, an act of terrorism (section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000).
Complaints relating to Bel s online activity including social media posts expressing anti-Semitic and extreme right wing views were received by police. ....

A CHESHIRE man who was found with a guide on how to make explosives has been jailed for a terrorism offence.
Former Cambridge University student Oliver Bel was handed a two-year sentence at Manchester Crown Court today after being found guilty of possessing documents or records likely to be useful to person preparing or committing an act of terrorism.
The 24-year-old came to the attention of police in 2019 while studying at the university after complaints were made regarding his online activity, which included social media posts expressing anti-Semitic and extreme right wing views. ....

A UNIVERSITY of Cambridge student from Manchester has been jailed for terrorism offences at Manchester Crown Court.
Oliver Bel, of Cherry Tree Close, Wilmslow, was jailed today for two years after being found guilty of possession of documents likely to be useful to a person preparing, or committing, an act of terrorism.
He first came to police attention in early 2019, while he was a student at Cambridge University. Complaints relating to Bel s online activity including social media posts expressing anti-Semitic and extreme right wing views were received by police.
A search warrant was executed at Bel s address following a number of extreme right wing posts made by him appearing in a news article from Hope not Hate - an advocacy group campaigning against racism. ....

Milford Haven man banned and fined for drug driving

A man from Milford Haven has been banned for three years after driving under the influence of drugs.
Damien John Potter, 43, from Mount Estate, drove along Cherry Tree Close, Milford Haven, having above the legal limit of cannabis in his system.
The incident took place in November last year.
Potter pleaded guilty at Haverfordwest Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, May 4.
He was disqualified from holding a driving licence for three years.
He was also fined £120 and ordered to pay a surcharge and costs amounting to £119. ....

Herefordshire school to name building after headteacher

A PRIMARY school in Herefordshire is planning to name a new outdoor classroom after one of its former headteachers.
St Peter s Primary School in Bromyard said the new building would be named after Martin Holt, who taught at the school for 35 years.
Mr Holt started teaching at the school, now in Cherry Tree Close, in 1973 before becoming headteacher eight years later. His tenure then lasted until retirement in 2008.
The school s new building, which was approved by Herefordshire Council s planning department, should provide extra learning and recreational space for pupils.
The school said the new building would be installed during the summer term, and it would be called The HOLT in recognition of the years of dedicated service to St. Peter s by former headteacher Martin Holt. ....
