Homeguards ask for pay hike, take out march | Ranchi News

Ranchi: Hundreds of personnel belonging to the Jharkhand Homeguards Welfare Association (JHWA) marched towards the Vidhan Sabha here on Monday demanding wages and perquisites at par with their counterparts in Bihar. However, they were stopped near the Jagannathpur temple.
The JHWA has demanded that the honorarium paid to homeguards in the state be revised to Rs 744 per day, apart from the provision for provident fund, regular duty and payment of one and a half lakh rupees upon retirement.
The agitating homeguards started the march from Hatia station and covered around 15 kilometres. After the police stopped them, the protesters sat on a dharna near the Sai Mandir. ....

Brighten Home Loans has committed to closing the gender pay gap in the financial services industry, with its managing director appointed a Pay Equity Ambassador.
The non-bank lender’s managing director, Scott Kelly, has been appointed as a Pay Equity Ambassador by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA), after Brighten voluntarily signed up for its program that encourages equal pay across workplaces in a range of sectors.
Mr Kelly said it was “critical” for Brighten to embody its corporate values through proactive measures.

The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) has launched a global campaign #PayMeEqual to mark International Women s Day on 8 March, urging media across the world to conduct pay audits in their newsrooms and to act to tackle the gender pay gap
Equal pay means that women and men should receive equal remuneration for work of equal value. The global gender pay gap is estimated at 23%. It means that women earn on average 77% of what men earn.
Journalism is no exception to that injustice. The gender pay gap is not linked to women being less qualified but rather to their access to highly paid positions being limited. ....
