RAJSHAHI, May 4, 2021 (BSS) – The government has set a target to procure 38,522 tonnes of the newly harvested wheat in Rajshahi division during the current season.
“We have already procured 9,204.85 tonnes of the wheat from all eight districts in the division till Monday last,” said Faruque Hossain Patwary, Regional Controller of Food, adding wheat is being purchased at Taka 28 per kilogram at present.
Meanwhile, farmers have harvested around 4.81 lakh tonnes of wheat in Rajshahi division supplementing the government efforts of ensuring food security amid the present adverse impact of Covid-19 pandemic. ....

RAJSHAHI, April 16, 2021 (BSS) – Farmers have harvested around 4.81 lakh tonnes of wheat in Rajshahi division supplementing the government efforts of ensuring food security amid the present adverse impact of Covid-19 pandemic.
The farmers got the wheat yield from about 1.32 lakh hectares of land in all eight districts under the division during the recent past harvesting season.
According to the official sources of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), the growers were seen delighted while they got good yield as a result of favourable climatic conditions in the region, including its vast Barind tract. ....

RANGPUR, April 3, 2021 (BSS) – Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Md Mesbahul Islam has said initiative has been taken to export two lakh tonnes of potato to Malaysia from Rangpur this year.
He disclosed the information while inaugurating export of potato, produced adopting good agricultural practices, by cutting ribbon in a function held at Pairaband union in Mithapukur upazila on Saturday afternoon as the chief guest.
The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations, Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) and the Sara Bangla Krishak Society jointly organised the event. ....
