Professionalizing co-ops a big challenge for India: Sanghani

The National Centre for Cooperative Education of National Cooperative Union of India (NCUI) started a 12 Weeks Online Diploma Program titled “Diploma in Cooperative Education and Development” from 1st February 2021.
The Diploma which was inaugurated by NCUI President Dileep Sanghani, has about 45 participants from Nepal and various states of India like Assam, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Goa, Telangana, Gujarat, Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir etc.
The Diploma subject includes Cooperative Education, Environment of Cooperative, Cooperative Management, Accounting & Taxation and Cooperative Law.
Welcoming the participants, President NCUI Sanghani said Professionalization is a big challenge for the cooperative organisations today. With more than 8 lakh cooperatives functioning in various areas of socio-economic activities, the cooperatives in India have many success stories like AMUL, IFFCO, KRIBHCO, Uralungal Cooperative Society, etc. ....

NCUI to collaborate with Skill University for Noida campus

In order to create a world class campus at the upcoming Noida based Centre of Excellence, the apex co-op body NCUI held a meeting was the officials of Vishwakarma Skill University, Dudhola, Palwal (Haryana) last week, claims a press release mailed by the apex body.
The online meeting was aimed at forging joint collaborations. Cornel Utkarsh Rathore, JD, Short-term Courses said that SVSU fully supports formation of cooperative societies and conducting surveys by involving the student community to explore wide possibilities in the field of cooperatives.
Cornel Rathore felt a few societies and SHGs could be developed and adopted for showcasing the strength of cooperative models to the students and others. ....

SC upholds IT exemption for credit co-ops; NCUI hails verdict

N Satya Narayana, Chief Executive of the apex co-op body NCUI has welcomed the Supreme Court verdict on January 12 upholding income tax exemption under Section 80P for primary agricultural credit societies.
Tweeting on the issue, Satya Narayan wrote “NCUI welcomes SC verdict on Jan 12 upholding IT exemption under Section 80 P for primary agricultural credit societies, except coop banks under RBI operating license–N Satya Narayana, CE, NCUI”
The verdict, exempting credit societies and other primary societies from paying income tax, was delivered by a three-judge bench comprising justices R.F. Nariman, Naveen Sinha and K.M. Joseph. The SC ruling came on the Kerala High Court’s full bench verdict of March 2019. ....

NCUI CE bats for Amul model for PACS in the webinar with FM

At the pre-budget webinar consultation with the Finance Minister Mrs Nirmala Sitharaman, N Satya Narayana, Chief Executive of the NCUI argued that those incentives being provided to FPOs should be extended to the cooperative sector as well.
There are about 60 %, which means 60,000 viable PACs and multipurpose societies which may help in enhancing the value of produce of farmers after processing. “These 60k PACS can do wonders for Indian rural side”, said the CE.

NEW DELHI, Dec 22: Bharat Krishak Samaj (BKS) on Tuesday said the government should incentivise balanced use of fertilisers by increasing urea price and lowering rates of phosphatic and potassic (P&K) nutrients in the upcoming Budget.
In a virtual pre-budget consultation with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and top officials of the Finance Ministry, BKS Chairman Ajay Vir Jakhar also sought reduction in taxes on diesel and transport subsidy on fruits and vegetables, but demanded tax on unhealthy foods. ....
