Earlier today, Toei Animation announced a new Dragon Ball Super movie slated for 2022 though we already knew that since it was accidentally leaked ahead of time. This announcement came today for the purpose of commemorating Goku Day.
But what is Goku Day exactly? The Japan Anniversary Association has been officially recognizing May 9 as Goku Day in celebration of the Dragon Ball series since 2015. Apparently the main reason for this is because of a pun with Japanese pronunciation.
There s actually a very simple reason why May 9 is Goku Day. It s simply because it s the ninth day of the fifth month of any given year. ....

Traditionally, women are expected to buy gift-wrapped chocolates for the men in their working lives – usually senior colleagues and others who have helped them during the course of the year – as part of a tradition called
giri choco, literally “obligation chocolates”.

FUKUOKA The chocolate industry and department stores in Japan face an uphill battle as the custom of giving sweets to people at workplaces and elsewhere on Valentine s Day is on the brink of being lost while more people work from home amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Giri choco chocolate gifts handed out in the workplace out of courtesy had already been dying out in recent years before the coronavirus wreaked havoc, but stores in Japan are eagerly attempting to spur demand ahead of Feb. 14. ....
