By Mike Leischner Jan 13, 2021 2:49 PM RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU) An Oneida County judge has set bond at $1,000 cash for Jacob Petitt, the jailer accused of soliciting prostitution from female inmates. Petitt made his first court appearance on Wednesday afternoon, where the District Attorney also announced that he’s been placed on administrative leave from his position with the Jail. Investigators say Petitt told the women how they could elude drug enforcement officers in exchange for sexual favors. Conditions of Petitt’s bond include not leaving Oneida County. He returns to court on January 20th, though a judge admits that the strength of the evidence against him is “unclear.” ....
By Tom King Jan 12, 2021 10:23 AM RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU) The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office says they’ve arrested a Rhinelander Corrections Officer for accusations of Solicitation of Prostitution and Misconduct in public offices. Jacob Petitt, 26, was arrested on January 11th by the Oneida Co. Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Justice-Division of Criminal Investigations. Police say Petitt, a corrections officer with the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, was having inappropriate contact with females who had been incarcerated at the Oneida County Jail. He appears in court on Wednesday afternoon for formal charging. Police ask that anyone who can assist with the investigation should contact Detective Sergeant Kelly Moermond. ....
