City Council Seeking Input For Water Treatment Plant

Improvements are planned at the City of Jackson Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) to maintain the quality of our sewer system. The City is seeking a State of Michigan grant to fund the renovations. The first step in seeking that funding is holding a public hearing for residents to give input on the plan. The hearing will take place during the Tuesday, May 11 virtual Jackson City Council meeting at 6:30 p.m. It will be live-streamed on the City’s website, Facebook page, and Comcast Cable Channel 21.
The project plan can be viewed on the City website at cityofjackson.org/wastewater-treatment-plant. Plans call for the replacement of clarifier equipment, pumping equipment and controls, and electrical equipment. The City is requesting a State of Michigan Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) loan for the project design and construction costs which are estimated at $6,440,000. The estimated increase to the annual sewer budget associated with the CWSRF loan is $390,000. A user r ....

JACKSON, MI – A mainstay in Jackson County for more than 60 years will depart from its Jackson station after its sale last week.
The Jackson City Council approved a plan at its Tuesday, Jan. 12 meeting to sell Locomotive 5030, a train engine located in R.A. Greene Park near the Jackson Wastewater Treatment Plant, to a Pennsylvania nonprofit and tourist railroad.
Colebrookdale Railroad Preservation Trust, located in Boyertown, Pennsylvania, between Philadelphia and Reading, agreed to pay $50,000 over five years for the 1912 relic. It plans to restore the historic car built from steel from a nearby Pennsylvania foundry and assembled within 30 miles of the railroad there. ....
