The organization’s executive director for 34 years who launched its governmental affairs and apprenticeship initiatives died July 1 at age 87.
Arnold Tritt was a piler, not a filer.
While the floor of his executive officer’s space at the Northeast Florida Builders Association constantly was covered in stacks of papers, Tritt always knew where to find what he needed.
“Everything was so urgent and so important and he didn’t have time to file,” said his son, Arnold Tritt Jr.
Those piles even carried over into their home, Tritt Jr. said. As children, he and his brother Lee-ford would be put to work filling NEFBA mailers and sorting them by ZIP code. ....

Jacksonville's inaugural Taco & Tequila Festival set for May 2

Jacksonville s inaugural Taco & Tequila Festival is coming Sunday, May 2, to the riverfront beneath the Fuller Warren Bridge at the Northbank Riverwalk artist square, home of the Riverside Arts Market.
A fundraiser for a variety of Jacksonville nonprofits, the festival will showcase Mexican cuisine from at least 10 restaurants and food trucks plus tequila stations and craft margaritas. In addition, there will be live music, games and other activities, organizers said.
The event is offering a limited number of general admission tickets and VIP Sip & Savor Passes.
General admission tickets are available for $15 now $30 on the day of the festival good for one complimentary beer, craft cocktail or margarita and access to buy food and drinks from all participating restaurants and beverage stations. In addition, it will include a souvenir face mask. ....
