NWA Powerrr (Episode 36) Streamed July 27, 2021 on the FITE TV The show opened with a video package on the Champions Series and this week’s matches. The rules are that a pin or a submission gives the winning team five points, a draw gives both teams two points, and a DQ gives the winning team three points. If there’s a tie in the standings between two teams at the end of the points portion, the team that won their matches in the shortest amount of time will advance… Powell’s POV: Hey, my NWA Powerrr reviews are back. I skipped doing coverage of the Powerrr Surge edition and last week’s show, which was a draft episode that established the teams for the Champions Series but did not have any matches. Nick Aldis basically took control of his team’s picks and upset Melina on the draft show, Aron Stevens comedically struggled to get a word in with Taryn Terrell when they were making their picks, and the other team captains were essentially on the same page.
(Photo Credit: AEW) Wrestling icon and founding father of The Latin American Xchange (LAX), Konnan, introduced a new incarnation of his self-proclaimed stable at tonight’s MLW Battle Riot III. LAX’s new members are Danny Limelight (Rivera), Julius Smokes and Slice Boogie. After Cesar Duran (fka Dario Cueto in Lucha Underground) revealed he’s the new matchmaker for MLW, Myron Reed and Jordan Oliver of Injustice came out and demanded a World Tag Team Championship opportunity. As Duran was about to answer their request, a countdown timer appeared on the screen. When the timer wound down, that was when LAX made their appearance and introduced themselves to everyone.
Tonight s episode of NWA Power solely focused on setting up teams for the upcoming Champions Series tournament which, according to NWA s social media, begins on July 27. There are four teams, represented by champions in the NWA: NWA Worlds Heavyweight Nick Aldis, NWA World Women s Champion Kamille, NWA World Television Champion The Pope, and one half of the NWA World Tag Team Champions Aron Stevens. They will draft teams of 5 each. The winning team gets title shots for each member, and for the captain who drafted them, they will get protection from their team for one year (as in, their team cannot challenge their captain) or, they can choose a title shot of their own. Points are allocated depending on if you win, go to a draw, or get disqualified.
The Champions Series is set to kick off on this week’s episode of NWA Powerr. The NWA and FITE TV issued a press release hyping this week’s show, which will be the first part of their Champion Series. NWA TV Champion Da Pope defeated Sal Rinauro to retain The commentary team made it known that Rinauro was wrestling with an injured shoulder, but Pope didn’t seem to target it in the early portion of the bout. He was in control for the entire match and didn’t allow Rinauro much offense. Pope won with a pair of running knees to Rinauro s back while he was in the corner. They then revealed that Rinauro was wrestling with a broken clavicle. Austin Idol promo Idol came out with Tyrus, BLK Jeez and Jordan Clearwater. Idol ran down Pope for a long time and eventually announced that Tyrus will face Pope for the TV Title soon. Idol took way too long to get to the point.
Jennacide (with Taryn Terrell) defeated Lady Frost This wasn’t bad. Lady Frost looked quite good, and it’s clear that they’re trying to make Jennacide a star. She is still quite green, but there is a lot of potential there, and she has a great look too. Frost was given quite a bit in this little match, but she stood out and looked great. Jennacide was able to turn the match around when Terrell distracted the referee and Jennacide knocked Frost off the top rope. Jennacide worked over Frost with armlocks, keeping her grounded. Every time Frost went to escape, Frost was able to go back to the arm. Frost hit a big spinning kick, but Jennacide caught her on the ropes and hit a tombstone (Jenna 9000) for the pinfall.
