A controversial bill restricting what North Carolina school children can be taught about America’s racial history was approved by the Republican-led House on Wednesday and is headed to the Senate where it is also likely to receive a favorable hearing.
House Bill 324 is like dozens of bills around the country being pushed by Republican legislatures trying to ensure unflattering parts of the nation’s history is not taught in public schools.

Many states have been deciding to introduce legislation that will legalize the use of recreational marijuana. Now, it appears North Carolina lawmakers are hopping aboard, as they recently unveiled a bill to legalize the possession and sale of weed in the state.
The legislation was introduced by Dem. State representatives John Autry, Allison Dahle, Pricey Harrison, and Zack Hawkins and would legalize the possession of up to two ounces of weed, several cannabis plants, and other types of weed products for those over 21.
According to The Hill, the legislation also includes regulations on lab testing of cannabis, along with the taxation of weed products. It was noted the bill also proposed certain marijuana convictions being expunged for residents in the state. The bill would also create an “Office of Social Equity,” which pushes for “full participation ....

N.C. Rep. John Autry of Charlotte was one of four North Carolina legislators to introduce HB 617 a bill to legalize and regulate the sale, possession, and use of cannabis in North Carolina in the General Assembly this week. 
As written, HB 617 will: 
Establish the creation of the Office of Social Equity to conduct community reinvestment and repair, social equity, cannabis education and technical assistance activities. 
Make legal the use, possession, and cultivation of up to 12 cannabis plants for persons 21 or older for personal use. ....
