Juwi Renewable Energy Pty Ltd, the Brisbane based subsidiary of German renewable energy specialist juwi AG, signed an agreement with APA to construct the solar PV component of a medium penetration solar/gas/battery hybrid power solution for the Gruyere Gold Mine in Western Australia. APA owns and operates the Gruyere hybrid project, which delivers the mine site s electricity needs. The solar farm is expected to be operational later this year.

Whilst Airservices Australia s proposal to modify the base of Class E airspace on the eastern seaboard has garnered a lot of feedback traffic, there has been very little chatter surrounding another part of the modernisation program: SAFIS.
Surveillance Aerodrome Flight Information Service (SAFIS) is set to be implemented at two non-towered airports mid year if the proposal goes ahead unchanged. The two airports–Ballina/Byron Gateway in NSW and Mangalore in Victoria–are both heavy-traffic airports that Airservices believes warrant greater situational awareness that just CTAF procedures.
SAFIS will amalgamate Flight Information Service (FIS) in the surrounding Class G and Surveillance Information Service (SIS) to achieve what Airservices says will be an increase in safety at those airports. ....

juwi Renewable Energy Pty Ltd, juwi’s Brisbane-based subsidiary, will construct a high penetration solar farm as part of EDL’s hybrid power solution for the town of Jabiru in the Northern Territory, Australia. EDL will own and operate the Jabiru Hybrid Renewable Project, which, after completion, is expected to meet the town’s annual electricity needs with energy that is at least 50% from renewable sources.
Construction will begin shortly. The diesel power station will be completed by the end of 2021, and the solar farm and battery will come online in early 2022.
Dave Manning, Global Head of Hybrid at juwi, said “Hybrid power solutions offer the potential to significantly reduce the amount of fossil fuel power generation within the Kakadu National Park”. juwi looks forward to working again with EDL and the local community of Jabiru to deliver sustainable energy for the region. ....
