Jamia’s Missing Donation Box Recovered From Thieves, Police
SRINAGAR: Police in Shopian solved a theft case by arresting two accused persons involved in the commission of crime and have recovered stolen property from their possession.
Police Station Shopian received a written complaint from Intizamiya Committee of Jamia Masjid Shopian stating that some unknown thief/thieves have stolen a donation box along with money from Jamia Masjid Shopian during the intervening night of 28-29/04/2021.
On receiving the complaint, a case under relevant sections of law was registered in PS Shopian and investigation was initiated.
During the course of investigation, officers using all available means learnt about the involvement of two accused persons identified as Arif Ahmed Bhat son of Mohd Yaseen and Owais Ahmed Lone son of Ab Hamid Lone both residents of Sedow Shopian. Subsequently, both the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to Police Station where they r ....

Renovated Shopian Jamia premises again grabbed by vendors

Municipality says will send them packing soon
SHOPIAN: Even after strict orders from Municipal Committee Shopian to not to use the exteriors of Jamia Masjid Shopian, dozens of such vendors have again appeared around this historic site and have installed carts and other goods.
Since last year authorities have spent tens of lacs of rupees on renovation of beautification of this historical mosque which was constructed in 1930s.
The funds spent were solely of the general public.
Locals particularly those who offer five time prayers in the mosque say that for a few months, the vendors were vacated around the premises but they have again occupied the space,even blocking the entrances of the mosque. ....
