I was, quite frankly, disappointed that more residents didn t show up, said Park Township Supervisor Jim Gerard. I was hoping that more people would come and ask questions of the board. The more people who talk to us and ask questions, the more we understand what people are thinking. The event draws hundreds of motorcyclists and their friends and family for a festive kick-off to the biking season, but was canceled last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Organizers have been planning to bring it back to the Ottawa County Fairgrounds Sunday, April 25. But because the fairgrounds are owned by Park Township, the Park Township Board of Trustees is debating whether it ought to step in to prevent potential violations of state health orders on township property. The Park Township board is divided on whether to apply for grants for a pair of projects that would bring outdoor fitness equipment to the former Park Township Airport property and the Ottawa County Fairgrounds. The board ultimately voted at a Thursday meeting 4-3 in favor of moving forward with the fairgrounds improvements grant from the state and 5-2 in favor of moving forward with the grant for a project on the airport property.
