March 13, 2021 6:10 am
It was both a wet and windy day for farmers travelling to Kilcullen Mart to sell cattle on Wednesday (March 10) in Co. Kildare.
Speaking with

“It was a good sale today – we had a nice entry and a good mix of cattle this week. We had some very good store cattle through the sale, which we are continuing to get week-on-week.
“We had very few outlying cattle, but of the ones that we had they were certainly in demand and snapped up fairly quickly. ....

“Calving has ranked up a bit as individual farmers seem to be bringing more calves but that said we would normally have bigger sales around this time.

1977 The Swarbriggs Plus Two - It’s Nice to Be In Love Again
Tommy and Jimmy Swarbrigg represented Ireland in 1975 with That s What Friends are For (the song parodied by Father Ted with My Lovely Horse), and returned two years later with two ladies - Nicola Kerr and Alma Carroll - in tow (the plus two of the imaginative title), like an Irish ABBA (the Swedes had won with Waterloo in 1974). The Swarbriggs were less successful, however, coming ninth (the same position they had achieved in 1975). ....
