Cleveland State Wins TCCAA East Final Over Roane State Thursday, April 8, 2021 The Cleveland State Cougar basketball team took care of business late in the game as they defeated the Roane State Raiders 60-58 in the TCCAA East finals. Trailing by five with seven and half minutes to play, the Cougars went on a 10-0 run to take a 54-49 lead and held on for the win. Cleveland State Women Defeat Roane State; Cougar Men Fall In Closing Seconds Saturday, January 30, 2021 Asjah Harrell The Cleveland State women’s basketball team opened their season on Saturday afternoon by defeating the Lady Raiders of Roane State 56-46 on their home floor. The Lady Cougars took the lead from the tip-off and never relinquished it. The sophomores on the team showcased their leadership and led the charge for the Lady Cougars. Last year’s TCCAA Player of the Year and NJCAA All-American Asjah Harrell led all scorers with 18 points while also dishing out a team-best three assists and posting six rebounds along with five steals. Michaela Bennefield recorded a double-double, scoring 16 points paired with a team-high 10 boards. Newcomer Emma Harig also played a key role in the win, scoring 10 points, grabbing eight rebounds, and blocking two shots. ....
