.- How much do you think about the bowls, cups and vases that you use every day? A new exhibition at the Georgia Museum of Art at the University of Georgia examines both functional and artistic perspectives on Japanese ceramics. “Hands and Earth: Perspectives on Japanese Contemporary Ceramics” is on display from May 22 to August 15, 2021. This exhibition, drawn from the collection of Carol and Jeffrey Horvitz, has also traveled to the Lowe Art Museum at the University of Miami, the Crow Museum of Asian Art at the University of Texas in Dallas and the Katonah Museum of Art in New York. It focuses on some of Japan’s most prominent ceramicists from the 20th and 21st centuries and is sponsored by the Jeffrey Horvitz Foundation. ....
