Shade Beardsall, 14, will undergo life-changing heart surgery soon, but will need a heart transplant eventually.
After losing two of her brothers to a serious heart illness, Jessica Campbell must now take her teenage son to the same ward where one of his uncles died.
Shade Beardsall follows his nana, mum and two of his uncles in suffering hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a condition that causes the heart muscle to grow abnormally thick.
The condition can block blood flow from the heart and cause the heart to stop suddenly. Many patients report feeling fatigued.

Jim emails, “Do you have any secrets for getting through NM MVD? No matter what I do I can’t find a human there. I paid online to renew my driver’s license a couple of weeks ago. They charged my credit card immediately, and I haven’t heard a word back since. And, no responses to emails and phone calls to robots.”
It’s in the mail.
Charlie Moore, who handles information for the state Taxation and Revenue Department, parent agency to the MVD, says, “We checked on Jim’s license and found it was printed and mailed (the day before), so he should get it within a few days.”

Thomas (Tom) Russell Will, born on New Yearâs Day 1942 in Chicago, Illinois to Sylvia Schultz Will and Albert John Will, joined God in Heaven on July 19, 2021, in Lafayette, La.
After graduating from Palatine High School, Palatine, Il., Tom attended Drake University, where in â64 he earned a degree in Marketing and Communications. In â68 he joined the U.S. Navy and entered officer candidate school, where he went on to become a Lieutenant in the submarine division based in Norfolk, Virginia.

METRO AREA TRAILS NEED SOME TLC: Martin Perez emails he is a “recreational/fitness bicyclist (and is) concerned that very little has been accomplished in the overall maintenance and enhancement of the Bosque Trail, not only in the last 10 years, but for sure since September 2020.”
Martin speaks from personal experience, breaking a collarbone in a crash on the trail just south of Rio Bravo. He’s now back to biking and is requesting “regular maintenance of the Bosque Trail and other trails, noting that absolutely zero maintenance is apparent.”
He cites a collapsed “5- to 6-foot extremely dangerous section of the paved Bosque trail … just north of the trail and Rio Bravo.” And a “square hole just on the north side of the I-40 bike underpass that (has) needed repair and poses a severe safety issue for bikers.” And the “bumpy trail.” And he says there’s a real need for “repainting, repaving, improved signage and improving safety issues along the Bosque.”
