Roger Clayman, the executive director of the Long Island Federation of Labor, said there’s an opportunity to invest in solar and wind energy companies to become a big job creator. “There are really hundreds and maybe even thousands of jobs that will follow over the next 10 years from the development of wind farms,” Clayman said. “So it s important that we have a trained workforce. It s important that we have good, family sustaining jobs.” ....

At the Amityville-based Marks of Excellence Child Care on Wednesday, U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer said that the funds from the American Rescue Plan are coming to Long Island and would provide critical relief for families as the economy and workplaces reopen. “Since the start of this pandemic, day care and child care center advocates on Long Island have been sounding the alarm that these places are critical to our reopening and need help to survive,” Schumer said in a statement. ....
