Everything you need to know about the new Dubai Mangrove Forest

On Monday, Emirates Marine Environmental Group (EMEG) and Procter & Gamble inaugurated what is soon to be a lush green haven along the desert coastline of Dubai.
Dubai Mangrove Forest is located at the Jebel Ali Wildlife Sanctuary. According to an official statement, the location is a United Nations protected reserve that is being managed by EMEG and has been included in the Ramsar List of Wetlands of International Importance.
The initiative is in line with Dubai s plan for more than half the city to be transformed into natural reserves by 2040. It has also been developed in collaboration with The Storey Group and EcoMatcher which launched the One Billion Trees Initiative this year. ....

Sometimes it’s time to put the brakes on the fast-paced life and get back to nature. We know of a perfect place to do just that as a mangroves forest has now opened at the Jebel Ali Wildlife Sanctuary. According to
Khaleej Times, The Mangrove Forest ‘will comprise coral reefs, mangroves, sea grass beds and a natural beach’.
There will be 15km of mangroves in the area, plus 6km of wetlands. Naturally, it will attract lots of wildlife, from crabs and oysters to birds and even gazelles. There are plans to have 60 per cent of Dubai’s land under forest over the next few decades. ....

Dubai: Twice a week in the last couple of months, a team of marine scientists, researchers and volunteers have been going out in the sea to conduct a survey of dolphin population off the coast of Dubai.
Led by Dr Ada Natoli, assistant professor at the College of Natural and Health Science at Zayed University, and founder/director of the UAE Dolphin Project Initiative, they spend 3-4 hours during each trip, covering a specific transect (a path where one counts and records occurrences of the objects of study) out of a total area of over 1,000 square km of Dubai coastal waters from Port Rashid until Jebel Ali Wildlife Sanctuary. ....
