Chattanooga State’s Virtual Dinner Of Firsts Remix Raises More Than $50,0000 Sunday, January 17, 2021 Dinner of Firsts, the signature fundraising event presented by the Chattanooga State Foundation for Chattanooga State Community College, celebrated a successful ninth year on Nov. 12, 2020. Each year a community leader who is the first in their family to attend college is honored with a Toast and Roast. Proceeds of the event fund scholarships for first-generation college students. Statistics show that one in three entering freshmen at Chattanooga State are the first in their families to attend college. Earnings from the first nine years have provided more than $532,000 in scholarship support for First in the Family scholars. ....
Thiers, Williams And McClister Named Chattanooga State 2020-21 Chairs Of Excellence Tuesday, January 12, 2021 - by Betty Proctor, Chattanooga State From left, Chattanooga State Faculty Chairs of Excellence: Ashley Thiers, Angela McClister and Brittany Williams Assistant Professor of Journalism Angela McClister, along with Registered Nursing program Instructors Ashely Thiers and Brittany Williams were named 2020-21 Faculty Chairs of Excellence by Chattanooga State Community College. Ms. McClister is an assistant professor of journalism in the Business Division’s Digital Media Design and Production program. Her primary teaching duties include courses in journalism, social media and media law. In addition, she serves as faculty adviser to Chattanooga State’s student newspaper, The Communicator, while also serving as State Adviser for the Tennessee Intercollegiate State Legislature (TISL) Media section. ....
