LANCASTER — The Coos County Delegation on Monday unanimously approved several funding requests under the American Rescue Plan Act for projects in the county.
The delegation was presented with a recommendation from the Coos County Commissioners to split the $3,065,371.50 in ARPA funds received by the county on June 16, with half the funds, or $1,532,685.75, saved for county use and the other half being split among the three county districts, with each receiving $510,895.25.
According to Coos County Commissioner Paul Grenier, the portion going to the districts would be targeted for specific uses under ARPA requirements.

DUMMER — While no final decision was reached last Wednesday, many Dummer town residents at a public meeting on all-terrain vehicles favored restricting or eliminating their use on town roads.
About 50 people, including residents of Dummer and other interested parties, came together at Dummer Town Hall to discuss the use of town roads by ATVs and whether the town should change its ATV ordinance.

Multi-million dollar investment in state parks will benefit Coos parks

COOS COUNTY — These are exciting times for the state park system which is receiving $22.6 million in federal funding to allow the state to make needed improvements to its aging park infrastructure. Much of the money will go to state parks in Coos County including Jericho Mountain State Park in Berlin and Mollidgewock State Park in Errol.
The funding, approved by the Executive Council at its June 16 meeting, comes from the federal American Rescue Act and State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds.
Brent Wucher, public information officer for N.H. Parks and Recreation, said the funds will allow the department to catch up on a lot of projects it has been forced to put off because of a lack of funding. He noted the Hampton Beach Redevelopment project in 2009-10 was the last time the department had this kind of money to invest. ....

Mount Washington Commission discusses capital needs for summit

WOLFEBORO — State Parks and Recreation Director Phil Bryce alerted members of the Mount Washington Commission at their virtual meeting on Friday, Jan. 29, to a major change in the operation of the “state side” of the now permanently financed Land and Water Conservation Fund.
The state no longer determines how this money will be spent; instead, the decisions are made in Washington.
Under this new procedure, land acquisition will be LWCF’s primary goal rather  infrastructure projects such as upgrades and replacements, Bryce said.
That said, money to help fund the sewage treatment plant — still in the design phase — in the Mt. Washington State Park likely won t qualify for LWCF dollars, he warned. ....
