Puppet Showplace Theatre's Paul Vincent Davis still makes the right moves

Readers may recall Paul Vincent Davis as the artistic director and artist-in-residence of Puppet Showplace Theater in Brookline. He was a neighborhood treasure who had lived in Brookline Village since 1976.
These days, Davis, 86, is a resident of Deutsches Altenheim, the German Centre for Extended Care in West Roxbury.
But for more than 30 years, thousands of children and adults enjoyed the fine art of puppetry he brought to life at the Station Street theater.
Given the pandemic, Davis has been spending a lot of time reading, still mostly about puppetry. A Richmond, Va., native, his love of the genre began when he received a puppet on his fourth birthday. He went on to stage plays for family and friends, and he also read many books on puppetry. In high school, he performed a marionette show that received a standing ovation. “That was a pivotal moment in my life,” Davis said in a German Centre press release. ....

Deutsches Altenheim starts ‘Superheroes Saving Lives’ campaign

Deutsches Altenheim, a health care organization with a location in West Roxbury, recently unveiled its new Superheroes Saving Lives campaign.
Geared to its staff, the campaign focuses upon thanking employees for adhering to proper infection control protocols as well as conveying the importance of taking the COVID-19 vaccine.
Created in English and Spanish, the three month campaign features videos from the assisted living and nursing home residents, who thank the staff for their “heroic” efforts in keeping them safe during the health crisis. The videos span the gamut from humorous, serious and emotional. Additionally, staff also encouraged their own family members to record videos showing how important it is for individuals to follow safety guidelines and hygiene protocols. ....
