Katie Taylor has been named Female Fighter of the Year by the Boxing Writers Association of America for the second year in a row. 
It’s such an honour to be chosen twice, said Taylor. To win this award again is amazing.
While the award named after the famous female pro fighter Christy Martin is just four years in existence Taylor, the current undisputed lightweight World champion, is the first boxer to retain it.
Interestingly the equivalent male award – the Sugar Ray Robinson Fighter of the Year – which has been in existence since 1938 has only been retained three times: Muhammad Ali 1974 and 1975 – when he shared it with Joe Frazier; Evander Hollyfield 1996/1997 and Manny Pacquiao 2008/2009. ....
