Music on Union – Launches First Post-Lockdown Indoor Concert Series

Beginning August 6, 12:10 p.m.
Music On Union will offer an eight-week series of free, 40-minute, Friday lunchtime concerts in St. James Anglican Church (corner of Union and Barrie). Popular local artist, Spencer Evans, will kick off the season in this new concert venue performing with the Spencer Evans duo.
Music on Union opens up long-awaited performance opportunities for musicians and answers the craving of many music-lovers for the more intimate experience of an indoor concert. Performances will include the jazzy tones of musicians Dave Barton and Paul Morrison, meditative percussion and storytelling from Kyoko Ogoda & Selina Chiarelli, fresh mixes on the accordion from Jan Le Clair, and the classical sounds of the Limestone Trio and pianist Clare Marion. ....

Former Episcopal Church Bishop J. Jon Bruno, who garnered controversy and a suspension when he unsuccessfully tried to sell a church property still being used by a congregation, has died at age 74.
Bruno, who served as bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles from 2002 to 2017, died on April 23 of natural causes at his home in La Quinta, California, according to his wife, Mary.
“Our family and the many others who knew and loved Jon have been blessed with his magnificent life,” said Mary Bruno, as reported by the L.A. Diocese. ....

St. James Anglican Church restoration work completed

A Caledon East place of worship has completed a series of changes and are excited to be able to show to the community.
St. James Anglican Church underwent a number of different restorations to the structure of the building, bringing the long-time spiritual home into a new light.
Restorations began in November 2019 and work continued until completion this past December.
“The roof [and] the paint deteriorated, which resulted in the metal roof being exposed to the elements, and actually resulted in some panels that had to be replaced, let alone the thing had to be sandblasted and then painted,” explained Todd Hillhouse, Treasurer for the church. “We were very lucky that it was a restoration job and not a repair job which kept the whole character of the church and [allowed us to] preserve using materials that compl ....
