Powerful image of desperation – raising the white flag in the heart of Kuala Lumpur in front of the iconic Twin Towers.
IN war, soldiers raise the white flag. Meaning, “we surrender, concede defeat, please don’t kill us”.
There’s no war in Malaysia. But we saw white flags hoisted across Malaysia of late, meaning hunger hurts, loss of job, no money hurts, we are desperate, we surrender, don’t kill us, help, please help – begging without uttering a word!
So, here is the irony. The Government had been very speechy on the billions in stimulus packages.  ....

DE: You have been credited as being the only Chief Minister (CM) who did his best to solve Sabah’s illegal immigrant problem to the extent of demolishing their settlements that were a refuge for criminals and causing millions of ringgit losses in water and electricity thefts. How did you achieve it?
Chong: I was able to mobilise all the various relevant enforcement officials. I succeeded in mobilising the Royal Malaysian Police, the Armed Forces all the Local Authorities, and enforcement officials to work as one team. It was a big family of Malaysians tackling one common problem, which everyone called the ‘Mother of All Problems’ and that is the illegal immigrants.  ....

The famous Donkey’s Ears before and after the quake. The violent tremor broke one of the iconic ‘ears’!
THERE is such a thing called “sad truth”. The “sad truth” is, people forget about natural disasters really quickly, according to a study done by Professor David Konisky of the University of Indiana, USA.
One moment people are completely traumatised by extreme weather like severe storms and flooding, the next moment its memory fades.
The same has happened to the big Sabah quake June 5, 2015. People are not thinking about it anymore. ....

Kota Kinabalu: The Chinese community in then British North Borneo (now Sabah) upon realising that self-government or independence on its own will not happen, planned a high stakes gamble just before the proclamation of Malaysia to warn Britain’s Conservative Government that it should not be rushing the process.
They were worried that Malaysia was being formed in a such a hurry and that the interests of the locals in both the Borneo states may be compromised in the long term with pertinent aspects of the Malaysia Agreement (MA63) not being honoured by successive leaders in Kuala Lumpur. ....
