RESIDENTS are being asked to check to make sure they are registered to vote and that their electoral registration details are up-to-date. Households will start receiving letters from August 6 as part of an annual canvass to identify any residents who are not registered to vote or whose details are incorrect. If there have been changes in the household, for example a change of address or someone has reached the age of 16 or 17, a form can be completed and returned to the address provided on the letter. Local land search delay as Dorset Council backlog caused by house-buying rush DORSET Council continues to have problems with land searches to complete house sales after experiencing an unprecedented rush to buy homes in the area. The authority is now taking an average of 55 working days to respond to searches – compared to the target of ten. Only six per cent of all searches are now completed within the target time. “We are significantly below where we should be in terms of performance,” senior legal officer Jonathan Mair told a committee meeting on Tuesday. He said it was right that councillors continued to keep the council s feet to the fire over the issue. ....
