ANTRIM COUNTY, Mich. â A state trooper responded to reports of a homeowner firing a weapon at a Jordan Township ordinance officer on Tuesday, May 11, according to Michigan State Police.
Weâre told dispatchers made contact with the homeowner on Old State Road and commanded them to walk out of the home with their hands up after authorities arrived.
Benjamin Neil Misner, 38, complied, according to MSP. Authorities say the ordinance officer was snapping photos of present ordinance violations from the road. That was when Misner, accompanied by another individual, stepped out of the home and started arguing with the officer before firing rounds at the ground near the officer, authorities say. ....

RENSSELAER â The seven township trustees of the Rensselaer Central School District are accepting applications for a member of the school board for District 4.
District 4, currently represented by Ed Lane, who is serving his second term, is located outside the city limits, east of U.S. 231 and south of State Road 114. All applicants for this seat must reside within the District 4 limits.
This four-year appointment will run from July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2025. Interested applicants are requested to submit a letter of intent along with a short resume to the township trustees by March 27, 2021.

County awards $1.7 million in CARES funds

SUNBURY â The Northumberland County Commissioners on Thursday doled out more than $1.7 million in County Relief Block Grant (CRBG) funding through the federal CARES Act to municipalities, schools, businesses and nonprofit organizations.
Commissioner Chair Sam Schiccatano said SEDA-COG accepted applications on behalf of the county from the entities applying for the funds.
After SEDA-COG reviewed the applications to see if funding criteria was met, Schiccatano said the commissioners made the final decisions on how to award the funding.
He noted that many municipalities received funding to replace radios and related equipment for police and fire personnel.
This (pandemic) was a reason to improve communication, Schiccatano said. A lot of the radios that were replaced were old radios. ....
