Penalties for illegal street racing in Georgia toughened in Kemp-signed bill

Kemp said the increased penalties would help curb a growing crime problem in metro Atlanta and show support for police agencies seeking to crack down on street racing.
“This illegal activity is very dangerous,” Kemp said at a bill-signing ceremony Monday. “Many people have been injured and some tragically have lost their lives. … Our goal is simple: To protect every family in every community.” ....

Mr. Beverly: I would like to respond to your article concerning traffic at the new middle school in Peachtree City. There have been several accusations leveled at the school board and school system in this article and I would like to respond. My response is representative of ME and not the entire Board of Education. I can only speak for myself and not the Board.
First statement: “Why did someone not think of the traffic problem before buying the property especially since nobody asked them (PTC) before making the decision whether the eastern city limit school site was a good idea.” ....

Last week was the last full week of Session, and it was an incredibly busy one! Our final day of Session is Wednesday, March 31, when we will have a final adjournment. Last week, as many of you may know, we passed Senate Bill 202 - the Election Integrity Act of 2021. I will post a detailed summary of Senate Bill 202 on my Facebook page and my website. Additionally, last week, the House voted on over fifty pieces of legislation, passing legislation that will empower Georgians to build strong businesses, raise happy, secure, and healthy families, and continue making our state the best in the nation.  ....

House Small Business Development Incentives and Education Workforce Subcommittee
Subcommittee Chairman Dale Washburn (R-Macon) called up one bill, HB 611, authored by Representative Mike Cheokas (R-Americus). HB 611 seeks to provide a new definition in O.C.G.A. 50-5-121(3) for the term, ‘small business.’ This legislation was brought to the General Assembly by Scott Hilton with the Georgia First Commission. The new definition creates three tiers:
Tier 1 - 10 or fewer employees or $1 million or less in gross receipts per year;
Tier 2 - 100 or fewer employees or $10 million or less in gross receipts per year; and
Tier 3 - 300 or fewer employees or $30 million or less in gross receipts per year. ....
