Measures needed to be taken to contain the spread of COVID-19 in Alberta, but there are no winners from the province having to bring in tougher restrictions, says Nanton’s mayor.
Premier Jason Kenney announced stronger public health measures May 4 to bend the curve, sustain small businesses, and protect the health-care system. As of end-of-day May 5, there were 24,156 active cases, with 666 people in hospital, including 146 in intensive care, with COVID-19.

Two or more cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed at JT Foster High School, according to an Alberta Health Services sent Friday to parents and guardians.
The medical officer of health has requested AHS public health staff initiate an investigation to determine who might have been exposed at the school to cases of COVID-19 during their infectious period.
