GM partnership will put more electric long-haul trucks on American roads
General Motors is joining the likes of other automakers such as Toyota in developing hydrogen fuel cell technology for long-haul trucking.
GM is partnering with Navistar Inc. and hydrogen provider OneH2 to develop a complete zero-emissions long-haul truck system across the United States.
The trucks will be powered by hydrogen rather than batteries, thereby eliminating the need for charging stations on long truck routes. Instead, this new system will offer hydrogen refilling stations across the nation. OneH2 will supply the hydrogen production, storage, delivery and safety.
Hydrogen fuel cells offer great promise for heavy duty trucks in applications requiring a higher density of energy, fast refueling and additional range, said Navistar CEO Persio Lisboa. ....

Navistar collaborates with GM and OneH2 To launch hydrogen long-haul truck ecosystem; J.B. Hunt pilot
In collaboration with General Motors and OneH2, Navistar, Inc., a subsidiary of Navistar International Corporation, is introducing a complete solution for customer implementation of a zero-emission long-haul system, which will be initially piloted by J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc., a subsidiary of J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc.
Navistar plans to make its first production model International RH Series fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) commercially available in model year 2024. (Earlier post.) Test vehicles are expected to begin the pilot phase under the new, complete solution at the end of 2022. The integrated solution will be competitive with other powertrain offerings with a target range of 500+ miles and a hydrogen fueling time of less than 15 minutes. ....

In collaboration with General Motors (GM) and OneH2, Navistar Inc. has introduced a complete solution for customer implementation of a zero-emission long-haul system, which will be initially piloted by J.B. Hunt Transport Inc.
“Hydrogen fuel cells offer great promise for heavy-duty trucks in applications requiring a higher density of energy, fast refueling and additional range,” says Persio Lisboa, president and CEO of Navistar. “We are excited to provide customers with added flexibility through a new hydrogen truck ecosystem that combines our vehicles with the hydrogen fuel cell technology of GM and the modular, mobile and scalable hydrogen production and fueling capabilities of OneH2.” ....

Navistar, General Motors and OneH2 are collaborating on what they called a complete fuel cell vehicle ecosystem that will be piloted by J.B. Hunt.
Navistar, General Motors and OneH2, have announced the introduction of what they called “a complete solution for customer implementation of a zero-emission long-haul system.” The system consists of a Navistar truck powered by GM’s Hydrotec fuel cell system and refueled by OneH2’s modular hydrogen production and refueling system.
The truck and refueling system will be piloted by one of the nation’s largest truckload carriers, J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc., a subsidiary of J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. ....

General Motors Co. in Detroit today announced it, along with OneH2, will supply the automaker’s Hydrotec Fuel Cell Power Cubes to Navistar International Corp. owner of International trucks to use in its commercial production model vehicles, under the International RH Series line.
