Knives out: Ohio blade law opens opportunities for manufacturers

He started with art knives in the 1980s then transitioned to tactical tools. State law now allows him to manufacture switchblades, spring-assisted and gravity knives.
Senate Bill 140, a knife law reform bill advocated by the grassroots knife owner organization Knife Rights, took effect Monday and eliminated “the prohibition against manufacturing, possessing for sale, selling, or furnishing certain weapons other than firearms or dangerous ordnance.”
On Tuesday, Hinderer hosted a factory tour at his Shreve-area business Hinderer Knives to celebrate the bill’s passage. Ohio law legalizing concealed knife carry takes effect; also allows manufacturing of brass knuckles

An Ohio law that permits the concealed carry of non-weapon knives took effect this week.
Senate Bill 140 passed the House in December and took effect Monday, permitting concealed carry of non-weapon knives.Sign up for our Newsletters
The legislation makes a revision, no longer categorizing a concealed knife, razor or cutting instrument as a deadly weapon or weapon as long as it s not used as a weapon.
It also repealed the ban on the manufacture and sale of brass knuckles, cestus, billy, blackjack, sandbag, switchblade knife, springblade knife, gravity knife or similar weapons. ....
